This is my second portfolio project I made at The Game Assembly. A Black & Decker 644 Super Heavy Duty 3/4" Drill. With this project I wanted to focus on doing a hard surface prop with complex shapes, an optimated polycount and with a lot of texture variations. I wanted to build the textures from scratch in Substance Painter without using smart materials to challenge myself and develop better material knowledge.
I used a Maya to Zbrush workflow with live boolean, a workflow that in many ways takes away many of the limitations I previously had working in Maya only.
The first two scenes was rendered in Unreal Engine 5 and lineup, close up and breakdown in Marmorset Toolbag 4.
